Every species card on this site has a validation badge showing how thoroughly its data has been checked. Here's what each badge means:

Badge	Stage	Meaning
Scraped	Stage 0	Auto-collected from a public source. Dates match the source page but have not been cross-checked against an official PDF or manually verified.
✅ Validated	Stage 1	Dates have been checked against the official state regulations PDF and confirmed accurate. The PDF is the authoritative source. Once validated, data is locked for the season — no re-scraping needed until next year's regulations are published.

Our goal is to move every species to Stage 1 as quickly as possible. The PDF audit runs weekly to catch states that have published updated regulations. If you find an error, please let us know.

HuntIntel is a small, independent project built by a single hunter to make state hunting regulations easier to find and compare. We collect publicly available data from official state fish & wildlife websites — the same pages and PDFs that hunters already browse manually.

Every dataset includes a direct link back to the official source page and the state's regulations PDF. We want users on your site, not ours — we just help them find the right page faster.

Our scraping policy:

• We only access publicly available pages — no login walls, no gated content
• Once data is cross-checked against your official PDF regulations, it's locked for the season — no further scraping happens until next year's PDF is published
• We use a polite User-Agent (HuntIntel-Scraper/1.0) and run during off-hours
• Total traffic is minimal — each state gets hit roughly once every 2-4 weeks on average

Promo/Podcast/Newsletter Sponsor sits at the top of the Notes Section in each state category card and is free. You might think this isn't a good spot but almost every species has a Note so folks will scroll!

Here's the deal. If you're a sponsor, Paid or Promo, I need you to tell your audience about HuntIntel.info. Use it a couple times during your podcast when you talk about season dates. Share it with your friends & clients when they ask about season dates. Whereever it would save you or your buddy a trip into the website jungle of your state Game & Fish Agency.

So far the feedback has been good — they're useful additions that blend into the species cards without being intrusive. If that changes, I'll adjust.

Under the site header, you'll see Favorite Species: [dropdown]. This sets which category is automatically selected for every state's dropdown when you visit the site.

Choose from Upland Game Birds, Migratory Birds, Falconry, Places to Hunt, Indian Reservations, or Dog Regulations — whichever you hunt or explore most. Your choice is saved in your browser and persists across visits. You can still change any individual state's category without affecting the default.

Click the dropdown, pick your preference, and all state dropdowns will auto-select it on every visit. Change it anytime.

The *Notes badge flags that the species or license it appears on is referenced in the NOTES section at the bottom of that card. Open the card and scroll to the Notes section for the specific detail.

The Non-Res badge means non-resident restrictions apply to that species. See the NON-RESIDENT RESTRICTIONS section at the bottom of the card for the specific rules, seasons, and affected species.
